A vacant lot in the Bouldin neighborhood of Austin had never been developed.  Two heritage Live Oak trees in the middle of the site presented a challenge to building—in response the new house weaves between the trees using a combination of pier and beam and slab foundations to preserve the root system.

The courtyard scheme centers around the 200 year old live oak. A covered patio is between the middle courtyard and the back yard, which has a board-formed concrete water feature and a free-standing studio building.
